Koutoubia Minaret صومعة الكتبية

The Koutoubia Minaret was designed in the Almohad style, and built of sandstone limestone, on the ruins of the Almoravid stone palace. The height of the minaret tower is 77 meters, including the dome, which is 8 meters high. Each side of the square base rises 12.8 meters. The minaret is topped by a dome, and the dome is topped by gilded copper balls, which decrease in size towards the top, in the traditional Moroccan style. The minaret is visible from 29 km away. Its fame has made it one of the most prominent archaeological landmarks of Marrakech, a witness to civilizations that have passed: "the index finger of Marrakech" as described by the Moroccan poet of the Alhambra.

صومعة الكتبية تم تصميمها على الطراز الموحدي، وشُيدت من الحجر الجيري الرملي، على أنقاض قصر الحجر المرابطي. بلغ ارتفاع برج المئذنة 77 متر، ويشمل القبة، التي ترتفع 8 أمتار. يرتفع كل جانب من قاعدة square بطول 12.8 متر. و يعلو المئذنة قبة، وتعلو القبة كرات نحاسية مذهبة، يتناقص حجمها نحو الأعلى، على الطراز التقليدي المغربي. تُرى المئذنة على بعد 29 كم. جعلتها شهرتها من أبرز معالم مراكش الأثرية، شاهدة على حضارات خلت: "سبابة مراكش" كما وصفها شاعر الحمراء المراكشي.
